Design Concept
Skull Butterfly – 骸羽 is the studio's most explicit memento mori piece — openwork butterfly wings shaped like lace, with a small skeletal body at the center, finished with a single pearl drop that softens the lower edge of the piece. The combination is built on a deliberate tension: the wing reads as beauty in flight, the skull reads as the body that beauty is borrowed from, and the pearl below holds both registers at once. The kanji 骸羽 names a wing of bone — a small two-character phrase that places mortality and lightness on the same line.
骸の羽。静かな闇のうつくしさ。

Energy & Intention
Memento mori — the practice of keeping a small reminder of mortality close to the body — has, across many spiritual and artistic traditions, been read as a tenderness rather than a darkness. The wearer who keeps a skull at the wrist or the ear is not celebrating death; they are letting the fact of it inform how the present is held. Skull Butterfly holds that register quietly: not gothic for shock, not memento mori for theology, just a small piece that has decided not to look away from the fact that beauty and ending are part of the same line.
Who It's For
For the wearer who has earned the right to wear darker symbolism without it being a costume — the one who has known real loss, who has been close to real illness, who has worked in hospice or oncology or end-of-life care, and who would appreciate jewelry that does not pretend none of that exists. The piece reads as refined rather than confrontational.
Gift Idea
A gift for someone who works closely with mortality and would appreciate jewelry that honors that work — a hospice worker, an end-of-life doula, a death doula, a hospital chaplain, an emergency physician, an oncology nurse. Also a gift for the friend grieving a recent loss who would rather an object that names what happened than one that pretends nothing did. Wrapped softly, despite the darker register — ready for gifting.
