A lapis-lazuli mala-style cord bracelet, made for the kind of slow attention meditation asks for. The bead count is restrained, the cord soft enough to disappear under a sleeve. KAGAKI offers this as a contemporary handmade reading, not as a religious artefact.

Sage – 智 is built around a deep-blue lapis lazuli focal bead — lapis has been read across many traditions as a stone of clarity and inner thinking. The braided cord carries a matte gold-tone accent. The piece is a small daily companion for the kind of work that needs quiet attention. Not a healing claim — a quiet object.

Design Concept

Sage – 智 began with the deep blue of lapis lazuli — a color so unusual that, for most of human history, it was the most expensive pigment on earth. The stone was ground for temple paintings and royal manuscripts; the carved bead at the wrist is a far quieter use of the same material. Sage takes the lapis literally: a row of natural lapis lazuli beads carries the entire visual weight of the piece, deep blue strung against a softer surrounding palette.

Matte gold-tone Tibetan-inspired cloisonné-style accent beads sit at the focal points — matte rather than polished, so the gold quietly frames the blue without competing with it. The hand-braided cord beneath the stones is woven from three colors — blue, grey, and cream — each one echoing a register inside the lapis itself: the deep blue of the stone, the grey of its inclusions, the cream of the light catching its surface. The kanji 智 means wisdom in the quiet sense: not the cleverness of an answer, but the steadiness of a person who knows the difference between what is loud and what matters.

深い青に、静かな知恵をひと粒。

Material & Craft

Handmade with lapis lazuli beads strung along a hand-braided blue / grey / cream three-color cord, finished with a sliding adjustable closure that suits most adult wrists. Matte gold-tone Tibetan-inspired cloisonné-style accent beads are placed at the focal points — the gold-tone finish is soft and matte rather than polished, and quietly references the long East Asian tradition of decorative metalwork without claiming any specific authenticity. Each bracelet is finished by hand; the depth of color in each lapis bead, the spacing of the braid, and the way the cord softens with wear all carry small natural variation between pieces.

Energy & Intention

Lapis lazuli is the color of evening sky — the deep ultramarine blue that, for most of human history, was so rare and expensive that it appeared mostly in temple paintings and royal manuscripts. The pigment was ground from this same stone. To carry lapis on the wrist is, in a small way, to carry a piece of that long history of associating deep blue with what is true: the calm steadiness of a thinking mind, the patient kind of insight that arrives slowly.

The kanji 智 means wisdom in the quiet sense — not the cleverness of an answer, but the steadiness of a person who knows the difference between what is loud and what matters. The matte gold-tone cloisonné-style accent beads at the focal points carry the long East Asian register of decorative metalwork without becoming ornate; the blue / grey / cream three-color braided cord echoes the lapis itself, holding the deep stone within a softer surrounding palette. KAGAKI uses the form here in respectful conversation with that long symbolic tradition; the bracelet is contemporary, handmade, and inspired by — not a religious instruction or a guarantee. Sage is built for the wrist that wants to keep a small old-feeling stone close — for meditation, for the start of a thinking morning, for difficult conversations where the better move is to listen. A reminder of inner steadiness — a reminder, not a guarantee.

Who It's For

For wearers drawn to deep blue stone and a quieter symbolic register — the writer, the reader, the careful daily ritual-keeper, the person who keeps a small wise thing close to the body without needing to explain it. Sage sits cleanly on a bare wrist or under a sleeve, layers easily with other KAGAKI cord bracelets, and reads as a single statement piece on a bare wrist. The matte gold-tone accent gives the piece a quietly refined presence without becoming ornate.

Gift Idea

A considered gift for a writer, a thinker, a parent, a teacher, a friend moving through a season that asks for clarity — anyone who would appreciate a small daily reminder to listen rather than to speak. Lapis lazuli has long been given between two people when one wishes the other a steadier mind or a clearer eye for what matters. Thoughtfully wrapped in KAGAKI gift-ready packaging.

Care Note

Real natural lapis lazuli, the matte gold-tone accent beads, and natural fiber cord are sensitive to water, perfume, lotions, and prolonged sunlight. Remove before bathing, swimming, or sleeping. Adjust the slide gently, and avoid scratching the lapis beads against hard surfaces. Store flat away from light to keep the depth of the blue and the soft warmth of the accent beads.
