Design Concept

Promise – 約 began as a study of the small object exchanged between two people. A single hand-braided cord, finished in a quiet register, designed to be worn as a daily reminder of a relationship that two people have chosen to keep close. The kanji 約 means promise, pact, or quiet agreement — the kind of word spoken once, kept long. The piece is designed for that long-keeping.

Material & Craft

Handmade with hand-braided natural fiber cord, finished with a sliding adjustable closure that suits most adult wrists. Quiet hand-tied detailing at the closure; no hardware that draws attention away from the cord itself. Each bracelet is finished by hand; the spacing of the braid, the tension of the closure knot, and the way the cord softens with wear all carry small natural variation between pieces. Designed to be worn singly or as a matched pair between two people.

Energy & Intention

Across many cultures, a small worn object exchanged between two people has carried the meaning of a kept promise — the bracelet on the wrist as a daily reminder that someone, somewhere, is holding the same thing. In broader East Asian and Tibetan-inspired registers, the cord at the wrist particularly carries this meaning of fated bond and shared intention. KAGAKI uses the form here in respectful conversation with that long tradition.
