Design Concept

A pair of small white porcelain foxes carried at the ear — fine red painted markings on the face, a single dark thread-wrap holding the bead, and a long, soft tassel falling alongside a fine gold-tone chain. In Japanese folklore the kitsune is a quiet observer at the threshold of shrines and old roads, painted by hand and kept close as a small spirit-companion. Worn at the ear, the pair carries a thread of that quiet keeping into ordinary days.

Material & Craft

• Hand-painted white porcelain kitsune face with red eye, ear-tip and whisker markings
• Two small red bicone beads with gold-tone cap accents above the porcelain face
• Dark aubergine fine natural thread wrap holding the bead element to the chain
• Long fine fine fiber tassel in coral, pink and cream, falling 5–6 cm along a separate gold-tone threader chain
• Gold-tone french hook ear wire, lightweight on the lobe

Each pair is finished by hand, so painted markings, tassel weight, and thread tension carry small natural variation between pairs. The slight asymmetry is part of how handmade pieces age into themselves.
