Design Concept

Fern – 蕨 began with the kind of quiet piece a wearer returns to without thinking. A butterfly in grey-green jade — the color of dried sage leaves, deliberately muted — on a rust-brown cord with pale blue whipped-thread details at the back. The piece is designed to sit close to the body — light enough to forget, present enough to be found by the hand during the day. The kanji 蕨 means fern — a small visual anchor for what the necklace is about.

Material & Craft

Carved grey-green jade butterfly (~2cm, four-wing with carved wing veins, low-saturation grey-green — quiet by intention), gold S-hook and link details, one small sandalwood bead with gold spacers, rust-brown braided cord, carved gold barrel and pale-blue whipping at the adjuster — a design signature left visible in still-life photos. Each piece is finished by hand in small batches. Small variation in stone tone or knot position is part of the made-by-hand register, not a defect.
